Turn a Word document into a narrated video

Many useful documents live in Word: guides, proposals, procedures and reports. Save the document as PDF or plain text, upload it, and Storyvalo drafts a short narrated explainer from it. You decide which part the video covers and review every scene against the original wording.

Opens the studio with an editable word document to video brief. Sign in or create a free account first; nothing is generated or charged until you continue.

A good fit when

  • The content lives in a .docx file today.
  • The video should explain the document, not replace it.
  • You can name the action readers should take afterwards.

The closest real example

This export was made from a written internal document, the kind of file that usually starts life in a word processor.

Word document to video, step by step

  1. Save as PDF or text

In Word, choose Save As or Export and pick PDF or plain text. PDF keeps tables and images visible if you want to show a page.

  2. Upload the file

Choose Upload and add the file, plus any images you want shown exactly as they are.

  3. Focus the brief

Tell the starter which section matters and who will watch. A focused brief produces a clearer one-minute video.

  4. Review and render

Compare the narration with the document, then render the MP4 and subtitle file.

Tracked changes and comments

Accept or remove tracked changes and comments before exporting. Otherwise deleted text or reviewer notes can end up in the source the script is written from.

Headings help

Clear headings in the document help the draft follow its structure. If your document is one long block of text, add a sentence to the brief describing its sections.

Check what the export contains

Open the exported PDF or text file before uploading. Headers, footers, page numbers and hidden text sometimes come along and can confuse the draft; remove them if they appear.

The starter brief

“Use this starter” fills in this brief in the studio. Edit any of it before you generate a storyboard.

Turn the uploaded document into a short narrated explainer. Find its main purpose, explain the key points in the order the document gives them, and end with the action the reader should take. Use only facts from my source. Do not invent statistics, prices, quotes, customer names or results.

Review before you publish

Storyvalo drafts the script and assembles the video; you decide what is accurate. Read every scene against its source, check names, numbers and claims, and only use material you have permission to use. Stock footage and AI illustrations are illustrative, and narration is AI-generated.

What it costs

One 60-second, watermarked 720p export per verified account each calendar month. It ends with a short “Made with Storyvalo” card over its last two seconds. Standard voices and still or stock media. No payment card, no automatic subscription. Paid exports stay 1080p without the Storyvalo watermark. A free account includes five minutes of AI script attempts each calendar month, an editable storyboard and an interactive preview, with no card. Rendering a narrated video uses video minutes: export one minute for $2.99 or three minutes for $7.99, plus applicable tax, without a subscription. Monthly plans suit regular production and longer videos. Compare plans and packs.

Questions

Why not upload the .docx directly?

Storyvalo reads PDF, plain text and Markdown files. Exporting takes a few seconds in Word and lets you check exactly what is shared.

Is my document kept private?

Uploaded files stay in your private workspace. The text needed to write the script is sent to the AI provider described in the privacy policy.

Can I use several documents?

Yes. Upload up to five files in one project, 25 MB in total.
